Shepherd Oil Co. was founded in 1949 by Robert F. Shepherd, starting with a service station in Blackwell, Oklahoma. Mr. Shepherd built the business into a bulk wholesale jobbership with Champlin Refining and continued operating a state of the art service station thru the mid 1960’s. He later purchased a Phillips 66 bulk jobbership, expanding into wholesale deliveries to the oilfields, agricultural, and industrial markets in northern Oklahoma.
In 1974, a son, Mike Shepherd, purchased stock in the company and became a partner in the business. Shepherd Oil evolved into the self serve and convenience store business in the late seventies. They continued growing the marketership through a network of dealerships.
In 1983, another son, Scott, purchased the remaining stock and became a partner. Through the eighties and nineties, Shepherd Oil grew both their C-store and dealer markets into a statewide marketership with stores and branded dealers throughout the state.
In 2001, Mike’s son Brindan entered the business and currently heads up all C-store operations and wholesale sales and services. Brindan is actively pursuing new growth by providing services to new prospective C-store and dealer accounts.
In 2007, Zack Zimmerman, Mike’s son-in-law, entered the business and is involved in all aspects of transportation, wholesale, and dealer accounts. Zack brings into the business new opportunities to ensure future growth in the common carrier business.
In 2008, Mike's oldest son, Jason, entered the business and oversees property management, maintenance, and safety compliance, in addition to being the company pilot. Jason's involvement ensures existing investments continue to run smoothly.
Shepherd Oil was and still is based on the simple philosophy of its founder, “treat someone like you would want to be treated.” We are proud to serve the central United States with petroleum products and services. We are one of the oldest marketerships in the state of Oklahoma. Through a relationship with its customers of trust and integrity, Shepherd Oil Company is set to serve its customers, employees, and family for generations to come.
